Lake Tangimouci, a glistening pool of water inside a volcanic crater, is walking distance from the resort. The lake, elevated at 800 meters, offers jaw-dropping views of the verdant island, and is home to the rare tagimaucia flower. Waterfalls cascade from the lake, running down the incline, and form cool, freshwater pools – perfect to take a dip in mid-hike.
If you’re visiting during July, take a seat on the soft sands and see if you can catch a glimpse of a migrating humpback whale pod. During most of the year, dolphins can be seen leaping out of the ocean, waving their tails from the waves.
